Fact check: Netanyahu runs to the bunker after Iran attack? No, this video is years old

Hours after the Iranian missile attacks on Tel Aviv, Israel, a video The image of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sprinting through a building corridor made the rounds on social media. While sharing this, many claimed that it showed Netanyahu taking refuge in a bunker in response to the Iranian attacks.

One like that post Read: “Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu runs to save his life… How many days will he hide in the bunker?”

India Today Fact Check revealed that the video is almost three years old and has nothing to do with Iran's recent attack.

Our probe

Backwards searching keyframes from the viral video led us to the original shared by Benjamin Netanyahu's official X account on December 14, 2021. The Hebrew caption roughly translated read: “I am always proud to run for you. It was recorded in the Knesset half an hour ago.”

A round of keyword searching also led us to a Hebrew News Report of December 13, 202i, which noted that Netanyahu, then opposition leader, left his Knesset office to arrive in time for the plenary vote.

The Knesset is Israel's unicameral legislature, which passes all laws, elects the president and prime minister, and approves the cabinet. The Knesset Plenum is the highest authoritative body of the Knesset. Decisions of the Knesset are adopted by a vote in the plenary session.

This makes it clear that the video has nothing at all to do with the Iranian attack on Israel.
