Memphis rapper accused of falling asleep at intersection with gun and drugs in car

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A Tennessee police officer arrested a Memphis rapper around 5 a.m. on October 1st

James Baker, 28, also known as “BlocBoy JB,” is charged with obstruction of the road, driving with a suspended license, unlawful possession of a weapon as a convicted felon and simple possession of marijuana.

The officer noticed a red Mazda SUV stopped at the red light past the stop line on North Germantown Parkway near Chickering Lane.

According to the affidavit, Baker was asleep in the driver's seat with his foot on the brake.

He is accused of missing two red light cycles.

The affidavit states the officer saw a handgun and 12.4 grams of marijuana near Baker.

Baker was previously charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
