'Domestic incident' near Stephens County High School triggers 'precautionary measures'

According to authorities, a 911 call during a “domestic dispute” involving a school employee triggered a 911 call that put Stephens County High School on high alert early Tuesday morning.

Stephens County officers responded to the call just before 7 a.m. and arrived at an address near the high school. During the investigation, officers “learned that the shots were fired in response to a domestic dispute between neighbors that occurred solely through telephone contact,” according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

The subject of the investigation, Brystal Bohannon, a cafeteria worker at Stephens County High School, reportedly left the scene before officers arrived. Due to the circumstances and proximity of the incident to the high school, officers notified school resource officers and school administrators as a precaution.

Police said Bohannon returned to the scene at 8 a.m. before she was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

According to the Stephens County Sheriff's Office, no one was injured in the incident.

“Although Bohannon never posed a threat to the high school, deputies, SROs and school administrators took precautionary measures this morning to ensure the safety of students inside the high school,” the sheriff's office statement said. “The Stephens County Sheriff's Office, along with Stephens County High School, is committed to ensuring the safety of students, teachers, faculty and staff at the high school.”

Now Habersham has asked the Stephens County Sheriff's Office and school system officials for more information.
