Akron police arrest two boys for rock throwing incident on I-76

A 44-year-old man was injured in the eye by shattered glass.

AKRON, Ohio – Two boys were arrested by Akron police after they allegedly damaged several vehicles in Summit County.

According to Akron police, the incident occurred just after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, when the suspects threw rocks across the 27th Street Bridge onto I-76 West.

As a result, at least nine vehicles suffered broken windshields and other damage due to the “reckless behavior.”

Additionally, a 44-year-old man was injured after being hit in the eye by shattered glass. Emergency services were called to the scene and the victim was treated for a minor injury.

While investigating the incident, officers found the boys, a 9-year-old and an 11-year-old, who were allegedly responsible.

Both suspects were later released to their parents/guardians. The case was referred to Summit County Juvenile Court for review.
