Trump plans to return to Wisconsin on Sunday, a fourth event in nine days

MADISON – Former Republican President Donald Trump will return to Wisconsin on Sunday for a rally at the Dodge County Airport in Juneau – a fourth campaign rally in the battleground state in nine days, his campaign announced Wednesday.

The rally follows Tuesday's events in Dane and Milwaukee counties – the state's two Democratic strongholds. In Dodge County, Trump was ahead by about 15,000 votes, or 31 percentage points, in 2020, when he lost the state to Democratic President Joe Biden by about 21,000 votes.

He campaigned Saturday in Prairie du Chien in southwest Wisconsin. His Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, is making a campaign stop in the Fox Cities region on Thursday. No further details were disclosed. Harris held a rally in Madison on September 20th.

Like his Tuesday visit to Waunakee, Trump's comments in Juneau are being portrayed during the election campaign as criticism of the economic policies of the current Democratic administration.

“This November, Wisconsin voters will send a clear message at the ballot box when they reject dangerous Democrat Kamala Harris. Wisconsin voters know that only President Trump can make America affordable again,” the campaign said in a press release.

During his speech at the Dane Manufacturing metal plant, the former president spoke for more than 30 minutes before touching on economic issues – aside from a brief remark in which he said he would not trust Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris or President Joe Biden. run a lemonade stand.

A Marquette University Law School poll released last month found the economy was the most important issue for Wisconsin voters, with 41% ranking it as their top priority. The same poll found this to be true for 42% of independent voters.

In Waunakee, Trump promised to cut taxes on American manufacturers to 15%, “but only if you make the product here.” Otherwise, he said, “we will use the power of the tariff.” He also promised, if elected, to cut U.S. energy prices by 50% within a year of taking office, saying the country has “liquid gold.” and “more oil and gas under our feet than anyone else.”

He later took questions from reporters for about 45 minutes in Milwaukee after making remarks similar to those he made in Waunakee.

During his speech at Discovery World in Milwaukee, Trump indicated that his team wanted to hold a rally at Fiserv Forum, where the Republican National Convention was held in July. Harris also held a rally at the home of the Milwaukee Bucks during the Democratic National Convention.
