Driver killed in two-vehicle collision

BUTLER COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) – Emergency responders rushed to the scene of a serious two-vehicle crash in Butler County on Tuesday evening, October 1st.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 53 and 142 around 9:15 p.m.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 38-year-old Shanea L. Brown of Poplar Bluff drove her car into the intersection and crashed into the side of a minivan.

Brown was taken to a hospital in Poplar Bluff and later died.

The driver of the minivan, 32-year-old Heather L. Massie of Poplar Bluff, was taken to the same hospital with moderate injuries.

MSHP reports that Brown was not wearing a seatbelt and that Massie was wearing a seatbelt.

According to reports, both vehicles were totaled in the accident.

MSHP said Brown's death marks the 47th person killed in the state's Troop E region in 2024.
