From October 2, 2024 11:13 am

MITCHELL, SD (MITCHELLNOW) Americans watching the vice president debate were pleasantly surprised. The debate was civil, focused on policy and clearly laid out both campaigns' plans if elected in November. Both men tried to emphasize the positive aspects of their fellow candidates at the top of the list of candidates, pointing out the deficiencies in the opposing side's positions and deflecting criticism of the negative aspects of the presidential candidates.

Those who followed the debate described it as informative and interesting. People on both sides of the aisle welcomed the return to calm on the debate stage and the focus on politics rather than personalities.

Polls after the debate suggested a draw. For example, in a CBS News poll of those watching the debate, 42% thought the Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance won, while 41% thought the Democrat – Tim Walz – won, and 17% called it a draw and a draw.
