Lynn-Mann is accused of killing a teenager and is scheduled to be arraigned on murder charges next week

The Lynn man accused of fatally shooting a teenager in a Market Basket parking lot in the city will be arraigned next week in Essex County Superior Court, officials said.

Adrian Pena, 18, will be arraigned at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 7, Essex County District Attorney Michael Keefe-Feldman said in a statement.

Pena is charged with murder and carrying a firearm without a license, the statement said.

He is accused of fatally shooting 17-year-old Kai Burgos of Lynn in a Market Basket parking lot at 40 Federal St. on June 15, according to prosecutors.

On July 15, Lynn police determined that Burgos had been shot in a crashed car that plunged into a ravine near the Market Basket parking lot, prosecutors added. He was taken to Salem Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Pena was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in the Dominican Republic on July 16, prosecutors said. After his extradition, he was charged with evading justice in Miami before returning to Massachusetts.
