Fourth suspect arrested in Colorado torture case

JEFFERSON COUNTY Colorado (KKTV) – A fourth person is charged in a kidnapping and torture case being investigated in Colorado.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office first alerted the public to this case on September 18th. At the time, three people were in custody charged with attempted first-degree murder. The alleged crime occurred Sept. 15 at a home in the 4700 block of South Oak Court. The neighborhood is south of Harriman Lake near W. Quincy Avenue and S. Kipling Street. The victim said he was tied up and tortured for about 14 hours. He was reportedly whipped, beaten and burned.

“An uninvolved person who was inside the home was eventually able to help the victim get out and take him to the hospital,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a news release.

On Wednesday, the sheriff's office said it had tracked down a fourth suspect at a Denver pizzeria. Jimmy Ray Smith II was arrested Monday and is charged with attempted first-degree murder, second-degree kidnapping, second-degree assault and violent crime with a weapon. As of Wednesday morning, he was being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond and his court appearance was scheduled for Thursday.
