A 28-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison plus 21 years for the murder of Baltimore rapper David Boykin, also known as President Davo, before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Kendra Y. Ausby.

Earl Lee was found guilty of first-degree murder, use of firearms in a felony or violent crime and possession of firearms with a felony conviction in connection with the killing of 28-year-old Boykin outside Boykin's home in the 2000 block of Cliftwood Avenue found October 23rd.

During the Oct. 1 court hearing, Boykin's mother read a letter Boykin wrote to his family in July 2023 expressing his love and hope for his three young children.

“My whole family will grieve forever,” she said through tears.

Lee's defense attorney, Paul Kramer, acknowledged the tragic impact on both families and asked the judge to give Lee the opportunity to be with his children. Lee maintained his innocence.

Judge Ausby said the murder had traumatized Boykin's family, not only through the loss of their family, but also by forcing them to watch videos of the incident and interviews with Lee in which Lee told contradictory stories and at times claimed he had Boykin and others know it was a premeditated murder.

Lee, who was already on probation for a previous conviction, received a life sentence for first-degree murder, 15 years, the first five years without the possibility of parole, for the use of a firearm in a serious violent crime, and six years for possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, all to be served consecutively.
