SPRINGFIELD – The suspects in a Sept. 28 drive-by shooting incident on Arlington Road remained at large this week, according to officials with the Springfield Township Police Department.

Police said officers responded to reports of shots fired at 2:30 a.m. at the Waffle House at 3031 S. Arlington Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that two vehicles traveling north on Arlington Road fired multiple shots at a group of people gathered outside the restaurant. In response, some people outside the restaurant returned fire at moving vehicles, police said.

The restaurant was open at the time of the incident and no guests or employees were injured. The suspects' vehicles were last seen traveling north on Arlington Road.

In a news release following the incident, police said they believe it was an isolated incident “based on the evidence collected to date” and that there is no ongoing threat to the public in the Arlington Road area.

Police Chief Jack Simone said the department is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Detective Bureau at 330-734-4106.

“As we continue our investigation, we want to emphasize that the most effective way to prevent incidents like this and bring those responsible to justice is through the partnership between law enforcement and the community,” Simone said. “Good, reliable information, often generated by those who witness or know about these events, is the foundation for solving and preventing violent crimes.” We urge anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to: to report. Your involvement, whether as a witness or through an anonymous tip, could provide us with the information we need to act quickly and effectively.”
