Water tank leaking in Roseville – WHIZ

ROSEVILLE, OH – The Village of Roseville is dealing with a major leak in one of its water tanks.

The village recently performed routine maintenance on a water tank near old State Road 21, according to Jeff Jadwin, director of the Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency.

Jadwin says that during maintenance, crews discovered some water on the ground around the tank as well as water seepage.

“An inspection company came with cameras and examined the inside of the tank. “They discovered several large cracks,” said Jadwin. “Then they noticed additional seepage. At one point they noticed that you could see the water flowing out.”

Jadwin says the above-ground tank was built around the 1940s and holds about 150,000 gallons of water.

He says the inspector said it wasn't a question of if the tank would break, but a question of when, and they were concerned about nearby power lines.

Jadwin says it will be a long process to get financing and then replace the old tank.

“There are already rumors that we are evacuating and closing The Village, but that is not the case,” Jadwin said. “Even if there were a total outage, it would not affect the entire village, except that other parts of the village would lose water. “That’s why we contacted the district water company so that they can supplement the village’s supply with additional water.”
