Pedestrian dead in Salt Lake City crash

SALT LAKE CITY – One person was killed in a crash in Salt Lake City on Wednesday, according to Salt Lake City police.

Police said the accident occurred at 738 S. 700 East.

According to preliminary information, police believe the driver of a vehicle traveling north on 700 East lost control and struck a parked car. The force of the collision pushed the parked car into a woman walking on the sidewalk, killing her.

According to police, the victim is an adult female.

“Northbound traffic on 700 East from 800 South to 700 South will be closed for several hours,” SLCPD said just before 12:45 p.m

Police said they are simultaneously investigating another, unrelated crash at 800 South and 600 East. The department advised drivers to be aware of and expect delays in the general area.

The department said an investigation is ongoing and the cause of the fatal crash has yet to be determined.
