Two men found guilty of killing supermarket worker

Robinson shot the clerk twice in the chest, killing him. Robinson then grabbed cigarettes from behind the counter and fled with Hagan. No cash was taken.

BEAUMONT, Texas – Two men who robbed a Beaumont supermarket last December and killed the clerk have pleaded guilty to federal firearms law violations, according to U.S. Attorney Damien M. Diggs.

Larry Hagan, 27, of Houston, and Keandre Robinson, 20, of Beaumont, each pleaded guilty on October 1, 2024, to the federal felony of possessing and discharging a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death.

According to court documents, on Dec. 29, 2023, Robinson and Hagan entered the Kris Food Mart on Gulf Street in Beaumont wearing masks and brandishing semi-automatic pistols.

Robinson reportedly immediately forced the employee behind the counter and demanded cash while Hagan guarded the front door.

Just seconds later, Robinson shot the employee twice in the chest, killing him. Robinson then grabbed cigarettes from behind the counter and fled with Hagan. No cash was taken.

Upon arriving at the scene, Beaumont police began a comprehensive investigation.

BPD posted images of the robbery on social media and tipped off Robinson. Police arrested Robinson about three hours after the robbery as he left his apartment just blocks from the store.

Robinson later confessed to his role in the robbery and killing but refused to identify Hagan.

Police were eventually able to identify Hagan by searching Robinson's phone and discovering text messages related to the robbery.

During the conversation, Robinson and Hagan planned to rob the store to “get some money.”

In one text, Robinson told Hagan that he would “knock the clerk to the top” (to eliminate any “lost ends”).

In the final text message, just four minutes after the shooting, Hagan told Robinson to stay in the house for a few days.

Robinson was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 7, 2024. Hagan, who was at large until April 24, 2024, when he was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in New Orleans, was added to the indictment by the federal grand jury on May 1, 2024.

Sentencing is still pending and each man faces life in prison.
