Three people charged in Berkshire County drug ring

Three people have been arrested in connection with a drug trafficking operation in Berkshire County.

The investigation stemmed from suspected drug sales at a home at 30 Brown Street in Pittsfield. A search of the home on Oct. 1 uncovered numerous items, including nearly $21,000 in cash, approximately 146 grams of cocaine valued between $7,300 and $14,600, several digital scales, cell phones, an illegal firearm and illegal ammunition, according to reports the Berkshire County District Attorney's Office.

Arrested in the case: Kareem Archibald, 25, Bronx; Maurice Simmons, 33, Bronx; and Jah'Rell J. Mayes, 22, Pittsfield.

Police found additional drugs, scales and cash in each defendant's pocket.

All three were charged with heroin and cocaine trafficking. Archibald and Simmons are both being held on $100,000 bail. Jah'Rell J. Mayes is being held on $50,000 bail.
