Man dies in crash on Route 7 South in Norwalk: CSP

State police said the Nissan Maxima was thrown across the highway for an unknown reason before hitting a metal guardrail.

NORWALK, Conn. – A man died in a crash on Route 7 South in Norwalk on Wednesday, according to Connecticut State Police.

Based on preliminary information, State Police said the crash occurred at 12:03 p.m. and involved a 2012 Nissan Maxima S/sv that was traveling in the left lane of three near Exit 2 in Norwalk.

For an unknown reason, the Nissan left the left lane, crossed the other two lanes and the bleeding area of ​​the No. 2 driveway before colliding with a metal guardrail on the right shoulder.

State Police identified the driver as Fred Hunter, 80, of Wilton, who Norwalk EMS pronounced dead at the scene minutes after the crash.

The State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team was on scene to assist in the investigation.
