Brockton High School student arrested on firearms and assault charges

BROCKTON – A Brockton High School student was arrested Wednesday after allegedly displaying a weapon at Campanelli Stadium, which is adjacent to the school's campus, according to a joint statement from Brockton Public Schools and the Brockton Police Department on Wednesday evening.

Brockton High School administrators were notified Wednesday afternoon of an incident in which a student “allegedly displayed a firearm in a walking area of ​​Campanelli Stadium on Tuesday afternoon,” the statement said.

Once school administrators became aware of the alleged incident, they immediately notified school police, “who quickly located the suspect, a 17-year-old male, in a vehicle in the school parking lot and took him into custody,” the statement said.

The suspected firearm was never in the school building and no injuries were reported.

What is the student accused of?

The student is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. Additional fees may apply.

No weapon was found and the investigation is ongoing

School police have not recovered a firearm at this time and are continuing to investigate. They assume that this is an isolated case and that it does not pose a danger to the entire school community.
