Rooney Mara supports Joaquin Phoenix at the premiere of Joker: Folie á Deux.

Rooney Mara showed up at her fiancé Joaquin Phoenix's latest film premiere, but the couple didn't pose together.

Mara, 39, supported her long-term partner Phoenix, 49, at the premiere of his new comic film in Los Angeles Joker: Folie á Deux on Monday, September 30th. The couple, who share a son, posed separately for photos on the red carpet outside the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood. Mara wore an all-black dress to the premiere, while Phoenix wore a black suit and white shirt as he posed for photos with Lady Gaga, his co-star in the film.

Phoenix and Mara, who rarely appear in public together, originally met on the set of their 2013 film Hera film in which they portrayed ex-spouses. Phoenix famously told it Vanity Fair In 2019, he initially believed that Mara didn't like him before realizing that she was just shy.

Mara revealed that she and Phoenix were expecting a second child together while appearing at the premiere of her film La Cocina at the Berlin Film Festival in Germany in February.

While the couple usually keeps quiet about their life together, Mara previously spoke about how she approaches work-life balance as a mother while appearing on Joaquin's sister's series Rain Phoenix LaunchLeft Podcast in January 2023. “I was able to get advice from Claire [Foy] and Sheila [McCarthy] and Judith [Ivey] and all these mothers that I worked with,” she said of her film Women talk at the time. “And River was in the green room the whole time on set. It was a very idyllic situation, something like that probably won’t happen again.”
