FC Dallas vs. San Jose Earthquakes: Lineup Notes 📝

After losing an important game last weekend, FC Dallas faces a survival scenario for its playoff chances tonight against the San Jose Earthquakes.

Both clubs have their rosters in, so let's break them down.

Right off the bat, there are a few changes from the lineup we saw against Orlando over the weekend. Jimmy Maurer is making his second start of the season since Maarten Paes is out with a wrist injury (he's been traveling, so we might see him in Portland on Sunday).

In Maurer's defensive group, Nkosi Tafari will return after not starting the last two games. Sebastien Ibeagha and Marco Farfan remain in defense.

In midfield, both Show and Asier Illarramendi return to the lineup in the middle of the park. They will have Paul Arriola and Ruan on the wings.

And above we see another round from the Dallas Designated Player trio with Alan Velasco, Jesus Ferreira and Petar Musa.

The main thing here is to put pressure on San Jose's defense. They have conceded a league-high 72 goals this season, which is among the worst in league history. But at the same time, Dallas' defense needs to perform better than what we saw against Orlando last weekend. The return of Asier Illarramendi should help with that.

Based on the way Peter Luccin has been making his substitutions lately, Logan Farrington is likely to come off the bench. I would say Sam Junqua, Tsiki Ntsabeleng, Sebastian Lletget and Patrickson Delgado could also be good options.

Suspended: none
Out: Geovane Jesus (right knee), Paxton Pomykal (knee), Liam Fraser (thigh)
Questionable: Maarten Paes (wrist)
Loan: Isaiah Parker
International customs: none

What drives me crazy is that San Jose has some solid talent, but they haven't performed at all this season.
