Two dead after shooting in Worcester district

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester Police responded to reports of shots fired at a home in the area of ​​Heroult Road just after 2 p.m. Wednesday. A gunshot victim was found and taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A Massachusetts State Police trooper later approached a man they described as a suspect, who then shot the officer and fled the scene. Police were subsequently dispatched to a portion of I-190 for reports of a man running on the highway, pointing a gun at motorists and attempting to rob people.

Police chased the suspect and said he then turned the gun on himself. Police believe the man was the shooter in the Heroult Road incident. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
