The vehicle was located by Baton Rouge police Monday afternoon. The driver of the vehicle at the time sped away from a traffic stop and eventually fled after crashing the car.

Abraham's body was found Sunday morning wrapped in a tarp on the side of U.S. Highway 51 between Fluker and the village of Tangipahoa. The Tangipahoa Coroner's Office has ruled that Abraham was killed by blunt force trauma.

TICKFAW – The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office has re-arrested a work-release inmate after he left a construction site Tuesday.

Ethan Morse, 22, was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on a charge of simple escape.

Morse was convicted in August 2024 of simple burglary, resisting arrest while fleeing and resisting an officer. He served a two-year prison sentence.

Around 6 a.m., TPSO was notified that Morse had not checked in at the end of his night shift. Morse participated in a program that allows select correctional facility inmates to work at partner companies outside of prison.

Officers immediately coordinated with local law enforcement to contact Morse's relatives and known associates to obtain information regarding his whereabouts.

Shortly after making this announcement, Morse turned himself in.

Additional arrests are expected in this case, TPSO said.

As a result of the incident, new protocols for program operations were implemented, including an increase in check-in requirements for inmates.

“We've said it a few times, but our jail and its programs are a work in progress,” said Sheriff Gerald Sticker. “There are many useful operations and programs that simply require better oversight and management. We work every day to identify these and we are grateful that this scenario ended quickly and safely so we can learn positively from it.”

Tangipahoa Voter Registrar Andi Matheu updated previous information about the sealing of early voting machines for the November election.

The Town Board of Election Officers will seal the machines on Wednesday, October 9th.

The board meeting will be held at the Amite Registrar's Office at 110 N. 1st St. As usual, these meetings are public.

Once certified and sealed by the board, these machines will be used in early voting for the November election. Early voting begins Tuesday, October 18th and continues through Tuesday, October 29th from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (except Sundays, October 20th and 27th).
