Ryan Gravenberch left the pitch with a very happy face after Liverpool's 2-0 win over Bologna in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Reds scored two goals from two at the start of the league phase thanks to goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah, following a 3-1 away win at another Serie A team, AC Milan, last time out.

But while Mac Allister and Salah scored the most goals, it was Gravenberch once again who received high praise from fans and pundits alike.

The Netherlands international created two chances on the night, achieved a pass rate of 91% and completed three of his four dribbling attempts; just a snapshot of a great achievement.

After initially struggling under Jürgen Klopp following his move from FC Bayern Munich, Gravenberch has appeared rejuvenated since the arrival of his compatriot Arne Slot.

The 22-year-old excels in a deep midfield role, has previously been known as a box-to-box player and was even recently compared to Arsenal engine room legend Patrick Vieira by former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher.

Ryan Gravenberch receives praise for Liverpool's win

Gravenberch left the field on Wednesday, rightly so, extremely pleased with himself.

The former Ajax player was filmed receiving high-fives from club staff while his popularity with fans is clear to see. One fan shouted: “Great Ryan, great!”

Ryan Gravenberch's name echoed at Anfield tonight in the same catchy tune that his fellow Dutchwoman Gini Wijnaldum once enjoyed. Gravenberch is quickly becoming one of Slot's most important players and considering how closely Liverpool were linked to a midfielder during the summer transfer window, his services could well save the club a significant amount of money.

Next up for Liverpool is an away game at Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday.
