Will there be a season 2?

Warning: Nobody wants that Spoilers ahead!

Netflixs Nobody wants that is a love story that no one expected, but that everyone is excited about – except for most friends and family.

Inspired by creator and producer Erin Foster's true love story, the Netflix rom-com series “Hot Rabbi” follows Noah (Adam Brody) and sex podcaster Joanne (Kristen Bell) as they navigate a complicated, unconventional romance many believe that they are doomed to fail.

After 10 episodes of their love story, the season 1 finale ends with a passionate kiss And An uncertain future for the unlikely couple. While it reassures viewers that their love story isn't over, many questions remain about their relationship – a conscious decision by Foster to keep the finale open-ended.

“I really think this is the type of show where you want to give the audience what they want,” Foster told TheWrap in September 2024. “I'm not trying to make any artistic decision that takes away the happy ending the audience wants.” But you also don’t want to clean up too much where there’s nowhere to go.”

As Foster requested, there's a lot more to explore, particularly with one major cliffhanger question: How does Is there a relationship between Joanne and Noah?

Here's everything you need to know about it Nobody wants that The end of the first season, from the turbulent romance between Joanne and Noah to what it means for the future.

As the series progresses, a major obstacle stands in the way of Joanne and Noah's romance: his lifelong dream of becoming chief rabbi means he has to be with a Jew.

In the final episode, Joanne appears at Miriam's bat mitzvah and tells Noah that she has decided to convert. But after a conversation with Noah's would-be Mrs. Joanne, the Chief Rabbi's former girlfriend, changes her mind.

Instead of making Noah have to choose between his role as a religious leader and his relationship with her, Joanne ends things with Noah and tells him that the breakup would only make it harder to pursue her.

As for the final scene, Foster revealed to TVLine in September 2024 that they shot three different endings: one where she gets off the bus and he's standing there, another where he says, “You and me,” and a third in which they ask, “Well, how is this supposed to work?”

She added, “We just played with different levels, matched and got to where we are,” which led to the final scene where Noah runs after Joanne to be there when she gets off the bus, and the Giving viewers what could have been The second best Kiss of the season And wonders how the couple will manage.

“I completely understand some people who make the artistic decision not to give the audience what they want, but I don't think this is that kind of show,” Foster told IndieWire in September 2024. “I don’t want people to leave” frustrated or upset. I think this is the kind of show where you want to get what you want, and I wanted to give people the moment of, “We choose each other, but everyone knows that we give up a lot to choose each.” .'others, so how do we do this?' And that felt to me like a realistic but still satisfying ending with conflict so you can go somewhere.”

As they both pointed out in the last episode, Noah can't have it both ways.

Why doesn't Joanne convert to Judaism?

Joanne was open to converting to Judaism after Noah asked. After all, she doesn't belong to any religious denomination and doesn't hold any strong convictions – at least from a religious perspective. However, her friend Ashley reminded her that she is a firm believer in “not paying on dates.”

But convert to Judaism Is a big deal, and as Noah said, “This is important [she] I've really thought about it. Although Joanne did “some research” about the spiritual journey, she ultimately realized she wasn't doing it for the right reasons.

“I’m just not ready and in many ways I want to be. But if I'm honest, I only did it for you. And there are so many beautiful things about Judaism, and I'm just not there yet and I don't know if I'll ever get there,” Joanne told Noah in the final episode.

As for her character's decision, Bell told TVLine in September 2024 that she felt it was one of the most important messages to take away from the season.

“Suddenly she realizes how important what she's doing is and that this could be the real decision she's ever had to make as an adult,” Bell said. “The fact that she’s pulling back is the most important thing because she’s finally being true and authentic.”

Noah's lifelong dream of becoming chief rabbi is called into question when Rabbi Cohen suggests he cannot have a non-Jewish girlfriend – or, as the current chief rabbi says, “a crab cake” – and represent the community.

When Noah believed that Joanne would convert, he told Cohen that he would be up for the job if the temple board chose him. Noah was thrilled to keep Joanne informed until she broke the further news of her changed decision.

When Noah pursues Joanne in the final scene, it raises the possibility that he chose her over his dream. However, the ending remains unclear, leaving viewers wondering if he's foregoing this opportunity entirely.

Given the kiss in the final scene, it seems like Noah and Joanne are far from ready to give up on their relationship, but the big elephant in the room remains: they have completely incompatible lifestyles.

In September 2024, Brody told Tudum that Noah told Joanne, “I put you first. Everything else will work itself out, but I say you are my priority.”

Plus, Noah still has an overbearing mother who is determined to keep Joanne away from her son.

If the star-crossed lovers had their way, they would return for a second season. Upon request from Rolling Stone In September 2024, Brody and Bell agreed on how long the series should last: “Until our faces fall off.”

Foster reiterated that sentiment to TheWrap in September 2024, saying she would “love to do a second season.”

She added: “There is so much more story to tell. If people like the show, I would like to spread the word about it.”

The series has not been officially renewed for another season on Netflix. But with a spot in Netflix's top 10 in the days following its premiere and a near-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, the cast and crew are hopeful.

“We're getting a really positive response,” Foster told IndieWire in September 2024. “And I think the conversations about a possible second season have definitely started. …I mean, I want my show to be on the air as long as possible!”

In her conversation with TVLine, Bell expressed her excitement to explore the endless possibilities that lie ahead for her character.

“The excitement of a second season is like, 'Where are they going to go?' Are they going to let the world's factors influence how they feel between them, and isn't that a topic that everyone thinks about from time to time?” For example, ‘Do I want what I want, or do I want what society wants for me?’” she said.

There are also many more questions unanswered in the tribe: Did Morgan and Joanne get a podcast contract with Spotify? Will Miriam spend time with Caleb? What is going on between the “loser siblings”? How will Esther confront Sasha after learning he betrayed her trust?

Time will tell, Bubbelehs.
