Gaten Matarazzo wants a “time turner” at the end of “Stranger Things.”

Gaten Matarazzo feels all the emotions Stranger Things is nearing the end.

In an interview with The Hollywood ReporterMatarazzo, 22, explained that the last two seasons of Stranger Things It took longer than expected to air, which was actually a blessing. Given that he's been on the show for so long, the idea of it ending is sad.

“I love doing it, so any delay in the process is certainly frustrating, but now that we're nearing the end of our filming process for season five, I'm asking for a time turner,” he joked. “It was pretty shocking to see how quickly everything went by. I remember so many things from that first season so vividly like it was yesterday. We were so young and it was such a strange, wild experience that it somehow fit together. So it's not like I remember filming the first season particularly clearly, but there are a few different things that feel like they just happened.”

“And at this point I’m almost there Stranger Things longer than me,” he continued. “It took about a decade of my life and it is the most formative decade of my life.”

“So I'll always be really grateful, and it's getting harder and harder to come to terms with letting that go, both in a professional sense and a personal sense,” he added. “You can always expect that next season, both professionally and emotionally. So it’s going to be a different transition and I can’t wait to see what happens next.”

A taste of the upcoming fifth and final season of Stranger Things, Matarazzo said it was truly the “biggest, darkest and scariest” ever.

“I think that’s the goal,” he shared. “That is certainly the intention behind the writing. The only constant about this show is that every year it grows in scope and size, as well as the message they want to convey. So this season isn't different in the slightest, and I knew they had this set up from the start.

“They said, ‘Hey, this is going to be really, really big. We won't sugarcoat it: it's a year-round filming year.' And that led to a big reaction like, 'Oh, so we're really going to try this,'” he recalls. “That’s how we were [going for it] and we still are. I’m excited for people to see it.”

Even though he told it THR that he would be fine forever if he was known as an actor Stranger Things, Matarazzo's latest animation project, LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, introduced him to a new world of voice acting. As an enthusiastic star Wars Fan, he said it was a dream to work on it with Mark Hamill, who has played Luke Skywalker since 1977.

“To have [Mark Hamill] “Come back and do this, it’s really, really nice,” Matarazzo enthused. “It adds so much value to the show and also highlights how brilliant the show is as people from the original trilogy wanted to be a part of it. We are eternally grateful.”

“I am a star Wars Fiend, and when I was approached I said, “I don’t care if the script really sucks…”; “I’ll do it,” he continued. “And of course that wasn’t the script. So everything just fell into place to become a full-fledged dream project that was essentially a fan film. Lucasfilm let [showrunners] Dan [Hernandez] and Benji [Samit] They got away with pretty much anything they wanted, which was a miracle in itself.”

Now, “Stranger Things” Producer and director Shawn Levy is developing one star Wars film, and that's certainly on Matarazzo's radar.

“I'm sure we've all thought about it a little bit, but he's got so much going on at the moment,” he explained. “He runs and runs and runs and I’m really happy for him. Of course, he is a very established director who has already done some of my favorite works before he worked on this Stranger Thingsbut all these new projects are well deserved. He would bring such lightness and joy star Warsand that’s what the franchise definitely needs right now.”

He added: “So I’m here!”
