Eberl criticizes Ulreich's ban after the Rolfes incident: “Too hard”

Sven Ulreich was suspended for one game for shouting at Bayer Leverkusen coach Simon Rolfes during Saturday's game. Too hard, says Max Eberl.

After Sven Ulreich was filmed insulting Bayer Leverkusen's sports director Simon Rolfes during the game at the Allianz Arena on Saturday, the German Football League (DFL) has decided to suspend the FC Bayern Munich goalkeeper for one game and fine him € To impose 20,000 euros.

The decision is criticized by Bayern sports director Max Eberl, who considers it too drastic.

“I think it’s too hard,” Eberl told DAZN after Bayern’s 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa in the Champions League on Wednesday.

“Five years ago there was an incident with Kevin de Bruyne swearing at a ball boy and all he got was a fine. I think a fine and a one-game ban for 'Ulle' is excessive.”

“We won’t leave Ulle alone, we’ll get through this together.”

Ulreich will miss Bayern's Bundesliga duel against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.

Rolfes confirmed that Ulreich apologized to him.
