Bodycam video shows a police officer in Indiana rescuing a 3-year-old boy with autism from a neighbor's pool

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (KABC) — Body camera video shows the moment an Indiana police officer found and rescued a 3-year-old boy with autism who had wandered into a neighbor's pool.

The incident occurred last week in Fort Wayne.

The boy's father said his son Aziel somehow got to the pool through an opening in a fence.

“I look out the kitchen door and see the garage door was open, so I immediately ran out and went looking for him, but I couldn't find him,” Alex Cavillo told WPTA-TV.

Officer Evan Myers rescued the boy. He heard crying and found the boy floating on his back in the neighbor's pool.

Footage from his body camera shows the officer pulling the child from the pool.

The family said they are extremely grateful for Myers' help.

“I want to personally thank him for being able to find my son,” said the boy’s mother, Savannah Ybarra.

The family says they plan to build their own fence.
