The timing of Muriel Furrer's crash at the World Championships is becoming clearer; At least one driver witnessed the incident

The Zurich World Championships were marked by the death of Muriel Furrer in the women's junior road race and the time it took for the Swiss rider to receive medical attention is causing great concern among riders and giving rise to strong criticism. As the days go by, more and more details about the crash become known.

With no known witnesses, no GPS transmitter and no racing radio, Furrer's accident was completely overlooked by racing staff. Since that day, the Swiss newspaper Blick has carefully analyzed the pieces of the puzzle and put them together to understand what happened. and report that the crash occurred around 11:03 a.m.; However, Furrer's crash site was not found until 12:33 p.m., after the race had already ended. The helicopter that was supposed to transport Furrer to the hospital in Zurich took off from the scene of the accident at 12:32 p.m. and arrived at the hospital just three minutes later.

Blick identified two drivers who were near Furrer at the time of the accident. CyclingUpToDate believes that one of them is probably Hungarian Réka Tóth. But the direct crash into the forest area or the consequences of it were not seen by those with whom the Swiss news agency came into contact:

“Due to the high speed and bad weather conditions, she would never have been able to witness the accident herself,” said a spokesman for one of the drivers.
