From “denial delusions and choices” to spilling celebrity tea, who is Jaguar Wright?

Like many of the women she looked up to, Jaguar Wright discovered her powerful vocals at a young age and she wasn't afraid to use it. She enjoyed a rapid rise to fame in the late '90s and early 2000s, touring with The Roots and singing backup for Jay-Z on MTV. Although her talent is undeniable, Wright has repeatedly expressed her issues with the ethics of the entertainment industry while also revealing much of what she supposedly saw behind the scenes. Her honesty and refusal to conform set the East Coast songbird apart from her contemporaries, but that's also why her time in the spotlight was shorter than expected. Who is Jaguar Wright? Read on to find out everything you need to know!

The New Jersey native began working with the Roots and Jay-Z

When she was 12 years old, Jaguar Wright moved from New Jersey to Philadelphia. This eventually brought her into contact with The Roots, who admired the young woman's vocal abilities and charisma. She accompanied them on tour in the late '90s and continued to work with some of the biggest names in music when she was hired by Jay-Z's MTV Unplugged performance in 2001. The next year, Wright introduced her first solo LP, Denials, delusions and decisions These include appearances by Black Thought on “Ain't Nobody Playin'” and “I Don't Know”.

Her second album, …And your point of view is? was supposed to be released in 2003 but never saw the light of day following the collapse of MCA Records. Instead, many of the titles appeared on the 2005s Divorce from Neo 2 Marry Soulwhich contains 16 contentless titles. While touring Europe with Bahamadia and Hezekiah in 2008, Wright announced that she was working on a novel and a third album, although her only recent release was the five-song album Lost EP on Bandcamp in 2019. Instead, the 47-year-old's claim to fame these days reveals dark rumors about former collaborators and other stars.

When she first appeared, Jaguar Wright and Common were together, but she has since accused him of sexually abusing her. In August 2020, the former reignited the gossip on Instagram Live, claiming her ex tried to “put his dick in her mouth.” A few months later, Common addressed things and said, “God bless you, Jaguar. I really don't have any negative thoughts towards her. I was definitely disappointed and hurt when she said what she said about me because it wasn’t true.”

Elsewhere, Wright has claimed that Mary J. Blige is a member of the LGBTQ+ community, although the fashionista has ignored the rumors. She has also criticized The Roots for reportedly enabling R. Kelly's placement of underage girls, noting that she was told to “mind her damn business” if she wanted to keep her career. “The Roots existed when this ni**a sent his driver out to pick up middle school girls. They took her to Larry Gold's studio,” she claimed during another live. “A member of The Roots told me, 'It's none of your business.' This man makes people millionaires.'”

What did Jaguar Wright say about Diddy?

In the past, Jaguar Wright has expressed regret for not speaking out sooner, which is likely why she has been an active whistleblower of late. She had a lot to say about Sean Combs in particular – long before his ex Cassie Ventura accused the music mogul of assault and human trafficking. During a chat with RealLyfe Productions, Wright claimed that Nicki Minaj leaked an audio recording of her former partner Meek Mill and Diddy with NSFW audio. “Fucking Meek Mill walking around fucking talking about expensive pain? “He’s a fucking Fruit Loop, he did it,” she complained.

“Damn, Nicki threw that out. Godd**n Nicki recorded this at the freak-off in Calabasas. She was just waiting to do this to Meek. She just wouldn't tell anyone it was Diddy. “But now that Diddy is out there, why not?” the R&B artist continued. As Vibe reports, Meek has denied all rumors about him and Combs. While speaking to the same outlet, Wright pointed out that everyone who built Uptown Records with Diddy is now dead. “Uptown Records started with five people – Andre Harrell, Al B. Sure, Heavy D and Puffy [Diddy]; and Kim [Porter] was the longest working employee,” she began.

“She was there from the beginning, she was Andre’s personal assistant. Kim is dead, Heavy D is dead, Andre Harrell is dead, the only two left are Puffy and Al, and Al almost died. Isn't that interesting?” Her accusations continued: “You wrote all the tell-all books. Was Puffy ever in a coma? Did something happen to him? He must be the luckiest mom because it seems like everyone who worked at Uptown Records from the beginning has disappeared.” Read the latest on Kim Porter's rumored memoir here.
