“We evacuated the stage for three hours”

New Delhi:

Will Smith's role as Agent J in Men in Black remains one of his most popular performances to this day. The film, directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and starring Tommy Lee Jones as the other lead actor, was released in 1997. In a recent interview, Barry shared a hilarious anecdote from the MIB set, revealing that Will Smith's fart once brought filming to a standstill for three hours. “We were preparing to shoot Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. They must be built into this device [a car] that turns into a hypercar. We get them up there, put them in the thing, turn it upside down and we're ready to shoot,” Barry Sonnenfeld told Kelly Ripa on a new episode of her podcast “Let's Talk Off Camera.”

He added: “You're hermetically sealed in this room and there are locks to keep it from opening and falling down.” I say, “Camera roll,” and I hear Will Smith say, “Oh, my God.” I'm sorry . Tommy, I'm so sorry. Baz, get the ladder! And it happened: Will Smith is a farter. It's just that some people do that. And you really don't want to be in a very small, hermetically sealed room with a Will Smith fart. “

Barry Sonnenfeld said: “We evacuated the stage for about three hours. He's, you know, a nice guy. He just farts.

Last year, Will Smith revealed how he was persuaded to star in Men in Black by producer Steven Spielberg. On Kevin Hart's talk show Heart to Hart, Will admitted that he had concerns about signing on to the film immediately after his hit film Independence Day. He said: “I understood Men in Black somewhat, but I didn’t want to do Men in Black. That was the next year after Independence Day. That's why I didn't want to do two Alien movies in a row.” Will Smith added that Steven Spielberg contacted him directly and sent him a helicopter so they could talk in person.

Will Smith and Barry Sonnenfeld will work together in two more films Men in Black sequels, Men in Black II in 2002 and Men in Black 3 in 2012. The duo also collaborated on the 1999 film Wild Wild West.
