Bahamas records 91st murder in 2024: Man fatally shot in Grove area

The Bahamas has registered another murder of a man who was shot dead in the USA grove just 24 hours after a man was shot dead in front of his eyes Children. This latest incident was the 91st homicide in the country in 2024.

Police are currently investigating the fatal shooting that took place on Piper Lane at Palm Beach Street. Authorities report that a man known to police was shot multiple times by two men in a garden around 5 p.m. today.

According to police, the youngest victim is around 30 years old. The officer said when they arrived at the scene, they found the body of a lifeless man suffering from gunshot wounds just behind the pink wall.

Police Chief Inspector Dwight Smith announced details of the incident immediately after the body was removed from the scene.

Smith explained, “Sometime around 4:45 p.m. today, the State Police dispatch center notified officers on patrol of shots fired in the area of ​​Piper Lane, which is between Wilson Track and Palm Beach Avenue.”

He added that officers responded and upon arrival encountered a man lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds to the body in an open yard.

According to initial reports, the victim was sitting in this open yard when two men approached him, one armed with a firearm, and shot him around the body.

Emergency services were called to the scene and found no signs of life when examining the victim.

Meanwhile, Police Deputy Commissioner Doctor Charles Bologna said the victim was known to police, but not for any crime.

Police also assured that they will continue to make their presence known through foot patrols and saturation patrols as the number of murders in 2024 inches closer to the 100 mark.
