Charlie Puth couldn't believe Taylor Swift's tortured poet department cry was real: 'I thought it was AI'

Charlie Puth originally thought it was a joke or an artificial intelligence edit when he heard his name in Taylor Swift's song from her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department. In the title track of her chart-topper, Swift sings: “We declared that Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist.” Puth recently revealed how dubious he was when he heard that sentence, he didn't believe it.

Nevertheless, he enjoyed the shout, even if he was surprised. After hearing a snippet of Swift's song, he realized that the line was too intelligent to be composed by a non-human artist. It had to be Taylor's genius.

In a recent interview with SiriusXM, Puth said, “That’s quite a compliment, by the way. I thought it was AI because AI just seems to be everywhere. Then I heard a clip of it and thought, this is way too smart for AI.” ; That's way too clever – the way it rhymed.

During a previous discussion with Rolling Stone, a deeper dive provided more context to comments about how Puth found out about Swift crediting him with a line. A friend alerted him to the reputation after hearing a leaked snippet of Taylor's song, but Puth dismissed it.

However, he hoped she would probably bring it up during the press tours. At the same time, he also thought it might be a joke because he imagined that someone would try to trick him by asking such a well-known musician to comment on his work.

Puth later told the outlet, “It's cool to get a stamp of approval from an artist you've idolized for so long and still idolize.”

This special recognition is just one of the highlights of his year, as he also tied the knot with Brooke Sansone on September 7 at his family home in Montecito, California. In the wedding post, he shared his warm feelings towards Brooke and promised the two of them a sweet declaration of love for eternity.

The two started dating in June 2022 and have been lifelong friends. According to Vogue, the couple paid homage to their New Jersey roots when they chose Bruce Springsteen's “Jersey Girl” for their first dance at the wedding. Charlie Puth proposed to Sansone on September 5, 2023 in New York City after dating for a year and three months.
