Live Updates: Trump-Harris Election News; Kamala Harris is campaigning in Wisconsin

Former Trump White House adviser Cassidy Hutchinson endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday evening.

“First, I have known for some time that I would never vote for Donald Trump again in my life. I also knew for a long time whether the candidate was once Joe Biden or Kamala Harris, and that I would cast my vote for either candidate – now Kamala Harris and Tim Walz,” Hutchinson said during an interview with MSNBC's Lawrence O' . Donnell.

“As a conservative, I am truly proud to have the opportunity to vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in this election. Politics is important,” she added.

Hutchinson, an assistant to then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, gave shocking testimony to the House special committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Last year she also published a book in which she portrayed the final days of the Trump White House as even more chaotic and lawless than she had previously claimed.

While Hutchinson said there are “few points” on which she agrees with Harris, she hopes they can reach a consensus, and she argued that Trump and Sen. JD Vance cannot uphold “our rule of law.”

“Donald Trump and JD Vance cannot be trusted with the Constitution. They cannot be trusted to uphold our rule of law and they cannot be trusted to implement responsible policies. That alone is disqualifying,” she added.

Hutchinson said she plans not only to vote for Harris, but also to cast her votes in the upcoming election for Democrats who didn't vote in order to “put this phase of Trump behind them.”

Hutchinson is the latest Republican to publicly support Harris' presidential bid, including:

  • Former MP Adam Kinzinger
  • Jim McCain, son of the late Senator John McCain
  • Former Georgia Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan
  • Former Vice President Dick Cheney
  • Former Rep. Liz Cheney

Later today, Harris will campaign with Liz Cheney in Ripon, Wisconsin, the birthplace of the GOP.
