Heather McMahan's comedy special Breadwinner is coming to Hulu on October 11th

Comedian and podcaster Heather McMahan's second stand-up special, breadwinneris scheduled to premiere on October 11th Hulu.

What happens:

  • Deadline reports that the hour-long special, filmed over two nights at Atlanta's historic Fox Theater, will honor McMahan's Southern roots.
  • breadwinner includes material such as the pressures of McMahan's financial support, the perils of being a golf widow, planning a wedding on an over-budget, relationships with in-laws and more.
  • Find McMahan's first stand-up special here, Son I never hadover at Netflix. She also hosts the popular podcast Absolutely not.
  • The special comes at a time when Hulu is making a concerted effort to move into the stand-up space with the launch of Hulu Hilarious Brand.
  • Specials from Jim Gaffigan, Bill Burr, Roy Wood Jr., Ilana Glazer, Atsuko Okatsuka, Jessica Kirson and Chris Distefano are in the pipeline, with more to be revealed.
  • New specials will debut every month, with the mantra being “much more quality than quantity,” according to Jordan Helman, Hulu's head of scripted content.
  • Hulu is also launching a curated collection of licensed stand-up specials, ranging from iconic comedy specials to recent releases from 800 Pound Gorilla and Comedy Dynamics, among others.
