Florida Sheriff's Office employee charged with video voyeurism

A Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputy is accused of secretly videotaping a woman. Matthew Horton, 43, of Port St. Lucie, was arrested and charged with 11 counts of video voyeurism. Court records indicate the shootings occurred between 2017 and 2019 in Martin County. The victim discovered the videos while using Horton's laptop. According to the report, there was a clock radio on a dresser across from the bed in the victim's room. The victim said Horton bought the clock radio. At the time of the purchase, Horton was with the victim. According to the victim, Horton put the clock radio in the room and noticed he needed to check the time. The radio clock was actually a hidden camera that recorded the victim as she moved around her room. The victim said she recorded portions of the videos that were on the laptop using her cell phone. These recordings were made available to law enforcement authorities. The victim said she confronted Horton about the recordings in March. During the confrontation, which was recorded by the victim, Horton allegedly admitted to planting the hidden camera in the room. “The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is committed to maintaining the highest standards and maintaining the public's trust.” Occasionally, an employee may make a poor decision that results in misconduct. In the case of Matthew Horton, the allegations of misconduct were extensively investigated by the Martin County Sheriff's Office and determined that the actions were criminal. The victim discovered the videos while using Horton's laptop.

According to the report, a clock radio was placed on a dresser across from the bed in the victim's room.

The victim said Horton bought the radio-controlled watch. At the time of the purchase, Horton was with the victim.

According to the victim, Horton set up the clock radio in the room and noted that he needed to pay attention to the time.

The radio clock was actually a hidden camera that recorded the victim while he was in his room.

The victim said she recorded parts of the videos that were on the laptop with her cell phone. These recordings were made available to law enforcement authorities.
