According to a report from WMBF News in Myrtle Beach, a woman from North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, has filed a lawsuit against Horry County Schools, claiming negligence after she was shot during a high school football game at North Myrtle Beach High School was trampled underfoot.

Betty Peyer claims the incident occurred on August 23, 2024, when middle school students threw her to the ground at a North Myrtle Beach High School game.

Court documents released by WMBF say the principal and head of security supported Peyer after the event and expressed concerns about the lack of crowd control. He admitted they had been pushing for improved security for years due to the increasing crowds.
