New leak suggests Pokemon Gen 10 will release in 2026

With the impending launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, or whatever the company decides to call its next console, the immediate questions surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2 in the eyes of fans and critics center around hardware and software. We're going to focus on the software side of things for now, since for most of 2024 we've been hearing all sorts of reports, statements, rumors and leaks about which games will be made for the Switch 2 and which ones are “likely to happen” for it. One of the few guarantees you can give is that Pokemon Gen 10 will be available on the new system, if for no other reason than the franchise's incredibly dominant success on the Switch in its seven-plus years of existence.

However, the question is: When is Gen 10 coming? According to a leaker named Riddler Khu, the next generation of pocket monsters will launch in 2026, but they wouldn't give too much information about it after announcing the date. Like many leakers, this one has a spotty history with the truth, so you should protect yourself from expectations by not completely trusting this person's claims. Or at least wait for Nintendo or The Pokemon Company to confirm it's happening.

If 2026 is the release window for Pokemon Gen 10, that will likely cause some concern among fans. The reason for this is that Gen 9 came out in 2022 alongside the first “Legends” title with Arceus, and while both games were great in their own way, both clearly had a “lack of polish” in certain areas that the Fans don't want to see Gen 10. Given that The Pokemon Company was working on DLC for Gen 9 for most of 2023, that would mean they probably only had about three years to develop the new game for the new system, and that's likely not enough time to develop the game you want without various bugs and problems.

Another problem is that Pokemon Legends ZA was announced earlier this year and we don't have a clear idea of what this game is and when it will be released outside of “2025”. So if The Pokemon Company works on this and Gen 10, it could be another “work overload” situation that could lead to a lack of quality, and that's not what fans want at all.

However, this is all just speculation and there are still too many questions that need to be answered. Therefore, it's best to wait and see how everything turns out.
