Attention now shifts to the Europa Conference League, with the Blues favorites to win Europe's third-tier club competition in the inaugural year of the brand new format.

The group phase was replaced by a league phase. Clubs will play eight games – four home and four away – after which the top eight teams automatically advance to the round of 16 and places 9 to 24 will face off in a home-and-away play-off to join them.

First up for Enzo Maresca's side is Gent, who are enjoying a strong start to the new Belgian Pro League season and are in third place after nine games. Blues fans might want to keep an eye out for Andri Gudjohnsen, the 22-year-old son of former Stamford Bridge favorite Eidur, to play up front and has already scored two goals this season.
