Lake Mary teacher arrested for alleged misconduct

A Lake Mary teacher has been put behind bars after being accused of inappropriate behavior toward a student, according to Seminole County Public Schools. The arrested teacher was identified as Richard Colon. He is a social studies teacher and assistant coach at Lake Mary High School. Officials said they were informed of “an allegation of misconduct” and immediately placed him on leave. According to Seminole Schools officials, the incident was reported to the Department of Family Services and Child Care and Law Enforcement. Colon was then arrested Thursday afternoon. Seminole County Public Schools said it would continue to assist law enforcement in their investigation.
