One dead after an incident at a home in West St. Cloud

(KNSI) – St. Cloud Police are releasing more information on a incident That sparked a large law enforcement response on the city's west side Wednesday afternoon.

According to a news release, the Morrison County Sheriff's Department and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension conducted a follow-up investigation at a home in the 1700 block of Casselberry Road around 3:30 p.m. They were looking for a minor who was considered an at-risk runaway. While investigators spoke to a man who lived there, he retreated to a back bedroom. Officers heard a gunshot and immediately evacuated everyone. Officers at the home requested assistance from St. Cloud police as they attempted to speak with the man. St. Cloud and Waite Park police responded, as did the Stearns County Sheriff's Department because the situation was potentially volatile. The SWAT team was also called to a tactical response and found the man dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The minor in the home is in the custody of Morrison County.

At no time did any officer fire his weapon and no one else was injured. Investigators at the home wore body cameras. The man's name has not been released.

The case remains under investigation.
