Brother and friends mourn Montgomery County teen killed in crash – NBC4 Washington

A community in Montgomery County, Maryland, is mourning the loss of a high school senior who died in a car accident Wednesday morning.

Sanaa Vil, 17, attended Sherwood High School in Sandy Spring. She was driving two friends to school on Norwood Road when the car hit a pole while turning, police said. The other two teenagers, a 17-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy, were taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Family and friends brought flowers, stuffed animals and an autographed basketball to the crash site Thursday to honor Vil. They said Vil, who played varsity basketball, was one of the nicest people they knew.

“Sanaa was an angel to me. She was my twin sister. I loved her more than anything. We did everything together – exercise, activities, hanging out,” said Vil’s twin brother, Joshua Vil.

A high school student has died and two other teenagers have been injured in a crash in Montgomery County. News4's Dominique Moody reports.

“She is one of the few people in my life who has always made me feel special. And I can't remember a time when I've seen her without giving her a hug, and it really hurts to know that it's me. “I'll never be able to do that again,” said Avery Anderson, one of Sanaa's basketball teammates.

Her father said he kissed her goodbye that morning, not knowing it was the last time he would see her.

“Something like this is a real tragedy for us. But we thank God, he will help us,” said Jean Vil.

Sanaa was a member of the Black Student Union and friends said she had a strong faith in God.

“We just started talking about how good God is and how he's always there and how even in this storm that we're all in, he's still going to help each and every one of us,” friend Janelle Morrison said.

“I will never forget everything she did for me and the smile she put on my face every day,” said another friend, Candace Woods.

Students who said they spoke with the two teenagers injured in the accident said Thursday that one teenager was recovering from surgery and another was expected to be released from the hospital soon.
