Daycare worker arrested for cruelty to young people

GONZALES, La. (WAFB) – A daycare worker at the Ascension Christian Early Learning Center in Gonzales is accused of “grossly” abusing two students, according to the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office.

APSO Juvenile Division detectives responded to ELC on Thursday, October 3, regarding a report from school officials that a staff member had used inappropriate force.

It was later revealed that the daycare worker, identified as Morghan Sanders, 28, of Donaldsonville, had reportedly “severely abused” two young daycare students three times, officials said.

A warrant was executed and she was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on (3) counts of cruelty to juveniles.

“The safety and well-being of every child in our care is our top priority. We know how important it is to create a safe and supportive environment in which children can thrive. Ascension Christian Early Learning Center (ELC) is committed to exceeding state standards and providing exceptional care,” said Principal Mark Pellegrin.
