Mike Evans on pace with 76 catches, 909 yards and 12 touchdowns

September 29, 2024

Yes, Joe wondered aloud after last week's stunning loss to Denver whether Mike Evans' slow start might have been an early sign that age was catching up with him this season.

But the film showed a different story.

Evans was on offense against Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain, but a combination of Baker Mayfield being under siege and/or not seeing him seemed to cost Evans a lot of scoring and production.

Today was a completely different story. Evans got the ball early and often as the Bucs beat the Eagles. Evans finished the game with 8 catches for 94 yards and a touchdown. And he could have had more.

Evans has now played four games with 18 receptions for 214 yards and 3 TD catches. That puts him at 76 catches for 909 yards and 12 touchdowns.

That's not the 1,000-yard mark Evans needs to continue his historic streak, but he's well on his way. And honestly, Joe believes that streak is the reason Evans was on the field late in today's game, picking up unnecessary yards.

Regardless, a huge game for Big Mike, the greatest receiver in Bucs history.
