Mayfield and Cousins ​​donate $100,000 to Hurricane Helene relief

ATLANTA, Ga. – Ahead of Thursday night's NFC South matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Atlanta Falcons, Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield, his wife Emily, Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins ​​and Cousins' wife Julie joined forces to support the relief effort to support Hurricane Helene.

Both families pledged $50,000 toward a $100,000 donation to Team Rubicon, a veteran-run nonprofit organization that specializes in disaster relief.

Team Rubicon has deployed 240 volunteers to the hardest-hit areas in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and the Carolinas. Team Rubicon carried out road clearing, rehabilitation and sawing work to repair critical infrastructure. Rubicon teams are currently deployed in 35 communities for Hurricane Helene relief efforts.

Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida as a strong Category 4 hurricane and caused widespread flooding across Florida's Gulf Coast.

Widespread property damage and flooding spread throughout Georgia and the Carolinas, with the hurricane's greatest devastation occurring in western North Carolina. The death toll across all states rose to 204 on Thursday afternoon as rescue and recovery efforts continue.

The Buccaneers have also pledged $1 million to support Hurricane Helene relief efforts through the Glazer Family Foundation, and the Falcons have pledged $2 million through the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation.

Other donations across the NFL include $3 million from the Carolina Panthers through the David and Nicole Tepper Foundation and $1 million each from the Houston Texans and the NFL Foundation.
