EBR prison deputy arrested for bringing contraband into prison

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – An East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office jail employee was arrested after she allegedly brought contraband into the East Baton Rouge Jail for an inmate.

According to officials, 26-year-old Tybracia Gibson was arrested on Thursday, October 3, on charges of abuse of authority and three counts of importing contraband into a penal institution. Gibson said he brought envelopes containing unknown contraband into the prison three times.

The affidavit states that EBRSO Narcotics and Gang Intelligence Enforcement agents were notified on Sept. 30 that an EBRSO deputy was possibly smuggling contraband into the parish jail. Officials said this was discovered through supervised prison visits.
