Rough Assessment for Logan Hall – JoeBucsFan.com

Rough assessment for Logan Hall

September 25, 2024

This offseason, defensive lineman Logan Hall, the Bucs' No. 33 overall pick in 2022, was told by his position coach to “join the party.”

Hall hadn't lived up to his draft status and wasn't making impact plays as a full-time starter. Yes, Hall is durable and capable, but he hasn't shown himself to be a solid starter.

Has Hall improved much?

Well, that seems doubtful after head coach Todd Bowles admitted Hall's game is limited. When Bowles spoke with WFLA-TV sports director Dan Lucas this week about his difficult interior pass rush, he noted of his defensive linemen on the field Sunday: “Well, these guys are good run guys, they're not necessarily pass-rushing.” -rushers.”

This also included Hall.

Joe was surprised by Bowles' choice of language. The Bucs didn't draft Hall early to stop the run.

“But with the depth that we have and the guys that are on the floor, we have to make up for it in other ways and get more from the outside,” Bowles continued. “But we need to put a little more pressure in the pocket from within.

Joe realizes that Will Gholston no longer has what it takes to be a premier inside pass rusher like he was in 2020 and 2021. Veteran Greg Gaines shined a little as a pass rusher last season, but not as much with more snaps as injured starter in 2024 Calijah Kancey.

Room? Well, Joe will take the big route and hope he's still recovering from a foot problem he suffered in early September.

Get well soon, Vita!
