Viral video: 188-year-old rescued from Bengaluru cave! Here is the truth

A video of a 188-year-old man being rescued from a cave near Bengaluru is going viral on social media. The video posted by Concerned Citizen has already amassed over 25 million views.

“This Indian man was just found in a cave. It is said that he is 188 years old. Insane,” the post says.

However, the video may not be authentic.

X added a disclaimer below the post stating that the person's age may not be 188 as stated.

“Misinformation! The older man is a Hindu saint named “Siyaram Baba” who lives in Madhya Pradesh, India. He is reportedly around 110 years old,” reads the disclaimer, citing Navbharat Times as one of the sources.

The Navbharat Times article dated July 2, 2024 states: “His name is Siyaram Baba, who resides in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh. Many stories about Siyaram Baba are famous in the region. It is said that he performed penance while standing.” Even at the age of 109, Baba reads the Ramayana without glasses and speaks very little, but Siyaram Baba is a saint who resides at the Bhatyan Ashram located on the banks of the Narmada River in the district Khargone, Madhya Pradesh. Although no one knows his exact age, he is believed to be around 109 or 110 years old. There are different opinions in the surrounding areas. Therefore the exact number remains uncertain. Some people even claim that Baba is 130 years old. However, Baba never revealed his actual age.

D-Intent Data also called the video misleading and said, “A video has been shared in which some people are helping an elderly person claiming that a 188-year-old Indian man was just found in a cave. The fact is that these claims are not true. The older man is a saint named “Siyaram Baba”.
