“That '90s Show” canceled on Netflix, season 3 is missing

That 90s show will not get a third season.

That's according to one of the show's stars, Kurtwood Smith, who posted the news on Instagram on Thursday evening.

“I know you've been asking me when season 3 is coming, but I have difficult news…Netflix will not be renewing,” he began his post. “I just want to take a minute to say THANK YOU to all the fans around the world who supported and watched the show. When I'm traveling, you've come up to me in random parts of the world and reached out to me on social media and you've just been so wonderful.”

Smith played Red Forman in the series, reprising his role from the original series. That '70s show, alongside Debra Jo Rupp, who played his wife Kitty in both series.

“I loved every minute of bringing Grandpa Red to life for all of you,” Smith continued. “I've said it before, but it's worth saying again… There's so much heart in this series and the most wonderful cast, writers, directors, producers and crew for an actor to work with. Thank you for letting Red and Kitty, their grandchild, all of their grandchildren's friends and neighbors, the original cast of That 70's Show and all of our wonderful guest cast entertain you for two seasons.”

The '90s series took place 15 years after the first, with Eric (original star Topher Grace) and Donna's (original star Laura Prepon) daughter (Callie Haverda) visiting her grandparents (the Formans) for a summer.

Other original guest stars who appeared in the '90s edition included Wilmer Valderrama, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher. The cast also included Ashley Aufderheide, Mace Coronel, Maxwell Acee Donovan, Reyn Doi and Sam Morelos.

However, in his post, Smith hinted that he doesn't think the series is completely dead yet.

“To steal Red Forman's words…we won't be fools…we'll buy the show because good grandparents would go to great lengths to get these kids a high school diploma,” he concluded his post.
