Asheville police are looking for a suspect in a stabbing

ASHEVILLE, NC (WSPA) – Asheville police are searching for a man accused of stabbing two people Thursday morning, leaving one dead.

According to officials, Asheville police arrived on Short Michigan Avenue around 7:06 a.m. in response to reports of a stabbing. Officers found a man who had already died from his injuries and the other victim with knife wounds to the neck.

The victim was taken to Mission Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, Raqwean Jarrel Savage, 27, has been charged with first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, according to Asheville police.

Officers said they are actively searching for Savage, who is believed to be in the West Asheville area near Kentucky Avenue and State Street. Officials said Savage should be considered armed and extremely dangerous and that he should call 911 immediately if he was seen.

Savage is described as a black male, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. He has a tattoo on his upper right arm that reads “EST 1997” and a tattoo of praying hands on his upper left arm.
