Why Hannah doesn't feel "love bombed" by Nick D

Spoiler alert: Below you will find details about the first six episodes of the seventh season of Netflix's “Love is Blind” (now streaming).

Because of the premise of falling in love “invisibly,” one of the many obstacles for “Love is Blind” couples is getting used to interacting in person rather than from either side of an animated blue wall.

For 29-year-old real estate agent Nick Dorka and 27-year-old medical equipment saleswoman Hannah Jiles, who appear in the newly released Season 7 episodes, the problem apparently arose from how they described themselves in the pods.

After they make their “reveal” and Nick proposes in person in Episode 5, despite their kisses and “I love yous,” Hannah doesn't seem completely relaxed as she leans away from him while leaning on her hand and crosses her right arm around herself.

She later tells the camera: “In the pods he described himself as a football player – taller, medium height, about 1.75 meters tall. And what he said, I don't think is really true.” She adds, “It makes me a little insecure because I feel like I'm bigger than him.”

Meanwhile, Nick calls her “absolutely beautiful” and says: “I'm so in love with you and can't wait to spend every moment with you.”

Speaking to USA TODAY ahead of Wednesday's premiere, Nick explained that he didn't know why Hannah would doubt his veracity and said cast members were often off base when imagining what their pod fiancés might look like.

“You absorb the information after two weeks with someone and then you finally have an idea of what they might look like. And then you see him during the unveiling,” he said. “I would say that nine times out of 10, you look completely different than what you thought that person would look like.”

He added: “I honestly just wasn’t worried about the looks. Hannah and I had a really strong connection. If she feels that way, it's unfortunate. But we had a great connection.”

While some couples kept personal details like their ethnicity and body type quiet, Nick and Hannah openly hinted at their physical appearance.

After they realized in the first episode that she was a cheerleader and he played high school and college football, Hannah told Nick, “I'll be your Taylor Swift, and you can be my Travis Kelce.”

“I look a little better than Travis,” Nick replied. “But hey, I think he's definitely a little better looking than Taylor.” He also described himself as “a less likable version” of Henry Cavill, aka Superman, when she mentioned him as a celebrity crush.

“It can be difficult when people ask you, 'What do you like to do for fun?' And I answer, 'I like coaching.' Obviously my past in soccer came up,” Nick told USA TODAY. “People can take those words and kind of create a picture in their head of what that person looks like.”

After Hannah had some time to get acquainted with Nick during their post-engagement honeymoon, her concerns about her expectations of his appearance seem to have subsided. She reveals that her type is usually the “really tall, athletic guy, 6'3″, good looking and the best looking in the room.”

But getting used to Nick was “pretty quick,” matching the voice she heard in the pods for 10 days with his face.

“He’s been so nice so far. He was so gentle. He was so funny and he made me feel so relaxed and comfortable. If things continue the way they are going, I will definitely marry him tomorrow.” She says the newly engaged couples will be sent to the Cabo San Lucas resort.

Hannah didn't feel like she was being bombarded with love by Nick

For someone who has declared, “I've never really loved romantically in my life,” it might come as a surprise that Nick decided Hannah was his “true love” when he first proposed in Episode 4 might.

Both are effusive in their feelings for each other, with Hannah telling the women in Episode 1 that she considers Nick “the love of my life.”

In the pods, Nick explains that he'll give her “a lot” of compliments when they arrive in Cabo: “If you get out of the shower, get dressed up and walk out of the room looking like a whole diner, that's what I'm going to do.” “Come behind you and grab your hips, give you a kiss on the neck and tell yourself that you are the most beautiful girl in the world.

“I don’t even need to know what you look like, Hannah. “You’re beautiful and so sexy to me,” Nick adds.

But did it ever come across as a love bomb? Hannah doesn't believe it.

“Love bombing is definitely a thing. But I think in a situation like that the emotions are a lot stronger and I feel like you talk a lot deeper and quicker about things that aren't really love bombing, but just like you do a lot very early on is more emotional,” she told USA TODAY. “I never really felt like I was being love bombed by Nick.”

Hannah is “glad” she told Brittany about her fight with Leo

Of course, Hannah almost didn't get engaged to Nick because she was in a love triangle with 31-year-old art dealer Leo Braudy and his other romantic interest, Brittany Wisniewski, a 33-year-old beautician.

However, things fall apart between Hannah and Leo when she decides to end their relationship and look after Nick. In Episode 4, Leo begs her to give him more time to figure out which woman he will choose, doubling down on whether she would agree if he proposed to her.

Later, Hannah tells Brittany about the heated encounter, saying he was “yelling” while giving her an ultimatum. The conversation and the realization that Leo has told both women he loves them inspires Brittany to confront him about being his “second choice.”

Hannah didn't regret the exchange with Brittany.

“I spoke to Brittany because I wanted to make sure I was as transparent as possible so she knew what was going on. At the end of the day, she’s going to do whatever she wants,” she told USA TODAY. “But I just wanted to make sure that I at least told her and she was clear about it and whatever decision she made, she made it. I'm happy. I hope she's happy. So, yeah, I’m glad I did it.”

Nevertheless, Brittany responds to Leo's suggestion with a quiet “yes.” However, when the six fiancés travel to Cabo, the two are nowhere to be seen.

As for why Leo and Brittany were the only ones who got engaged on screen and didn't make it to the next stage, marketing executive Ashley Adionser, 32, told USA TODAY: “It's not a guaranteed situation as to who goes (to Mexico).” or who not. And I think they want to follow certain stories.
