QU student arrested on firearms charge after April incident at Culver-Stockton College | Investigation

According to the arrest report, officers were called to a report of brandishing a firearm at a fraternity party in Culver-Stockton on April 6. When officers arrived at the scene, they reported seeing several hundred people screaming and running.

Investigators working on the case learned that there had reportedly been an altercation between several Culver-Stockton students and three suspects, believed to be QU students. One of the suspects is said to have displayed a firearm in a threatening manner before fleeing the area.

Witnesses reported that the weapon appeared to be a rifle with an extended magazine. Investigators spoke with witnesses in both Missouri and Illinois before Quincy police reportedly recovered the suspected weapon, a Radical Firearms RF-15 .223 caliber rifle from Quincy University.

The investigation continued and resulted in additional information and the Lewis County Sheriff's Department requesting formal charges against Hegler-Wright. Lewis County Prosecutor Chelsea Fellinger filed a criminal complaint on Sept. 19 for unlawful use of a weapon, a Class E felony. Lewis County Assistant Judge Corey Moon issued an arrest warrant on Sept. 24.

Hegler-Wright was taken into custody by QPD on September 27th. He was taken to the Adams County Jail before posting $5,000 bail. Hegler-Wright's next court date is scheduled for November 18 in Monticello, Missouri.
